My interest in mental health dates back to my childhood as my grandfather saw clients in the back room of our home. With a growing interest, I began to read the books he kept in our basement, fascinated by different theories of mental health and approaches that can be taken. I was inspired by the amazing stories of people’s incredible life changes and success after their hardships. As my education brought me to the doorstep of Molloy College, my course load was filled with psychology courses from general psychology to experimental psychology and everything in between. Leaving college, I knew that Mental Health Counseling was the path for me and that is when I took my next step to becoming a Clinical Mental Health Counselor by returning to Molloy for their Masters program.
As a counselor in training, I have been introduced to a multitude of theoretical
frameworks and approaches to counseling. With the therapeutic relationship as a foundation, I will take an integrative approach to utilize the best tools to help my client reach their full potential. My approach includes a combination of Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioral ideologies, intended to promote self exploration, client lead therapy, and the creation of safe space while also allowing the client to challenge themselves to refute interpretations of life that are not serving them and take action for positive change.
There are a plethora of moments in life that ultimately impact how we feel in our day to day. No matter what the case, whether a good day or bad, there is always a chance to grow and I believe that you can and will! I hope to be a catalyst for you in your journey of self-growth by helping you to explore the context of your life and empower you to embrace everything that makes you, YOU!
