I, like many, am a well-rounded individual who has experiences, exposures and interests that help make up who I am as a person and as a counselor. I am considered legally blind. My family and myself have always been heavily involved with and have put together fundraisers for the Foundation for Fighting Blindness (FFB) and the Choroideremia Research Foundation (CRF). I am also a recovering alcoholic. My journey and experiences with both visual impairment and addiction have brought me to counseling.
I truly believe that anytime one asks for help, it takes strength and courage. Reality of daily stressors or change can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I believe that we all have the power within ourselves to overcome any obstacle. Reality can break you down, make you feel hopeless, helpless. I am here to show you the self-awareness, strength and confidence that we all need sometimes to conquer our fears and see hope for a brighter tomorrow. I have a passion for working with others as I have experienced my own obstacles and limitations but thankfully was shown strength I never knew I had. I provide a safe, non judgmental, strength based approach using a variety of different techniques including person centered, CBT, Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing. I do believe the client is in charge of their own destiny. I am simply a guiding hand. I have experience working with a variety of different issues ranging from anxiety, depression, life transitioning, addiction and stress. I have worked with adolescents, adults, seniors and individuals with disabilities as I have struggled with a disability of my own.
