My name is Lasine Matthews-Miller, and I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Alfred University, completing my practicum and internship under the supervision of Dr. Baer. I come to this work with over a decade of experience in healthcare, human services, and client support roles, all of which have shaped my belief that people deserve to feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment.
My background includes working closely with individuals with developmental disabilities, families navigating complex care needs, and diverse communities in need of compassionate, person-centered support. These experiences strengthened my empathy, patience, and deep respect for each person’s story and resilience.
Outside of my clinical work, I am a writer, volunteer, creative, and mother, deeply committed to continuous growth, faith, and community
In the therapy room, my goal is to create a warm, safe, and collaborative space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. I believe healing is a journey we walk together, and I am honored to support individuals as they grow, heal, and discover new possibilities for themselves.
I take a warm, client-centered, and collaborative approach to counseling. I aim to meet clients where they are, creating a supportive environment that honors their experiences and strengths. My work is guided by cultural humility, empathy, and respect, and I integrate trauma-informed principles to help clients feel safe, empowered, and understood.
